Owen’s First Step to Mortifying Sin

“To kill sin is the work of living men; where men are dead (as all unbelievers, the best of them, are dead), sin is alive, and will live.” — John Owen in Of the Mortification of Sin in Believers

Owen’s first principle is that we must be sure of our conversion (dead to sin; alive in Christ) before we can have any success in killing off sin that prevails in our lives.
